The king of beer holds court at Marché Gravelle, a small convenience store located at 29 Dalhousie Street in Aylmer.
For beer drinkers in Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and beyond, Denis Gravelle is royalty because his prices, especially on the most popular brands like Coors Light and Labatt Blue, are simply unbeatable. In fact, according to Quebec regulations, the price cannot be lowered much.
“My best deal today, right now, I have Sleeman Light at $20.39 a case,” Mr. Gravelle said. After tax and deposit, that works out to $25.63, compared to $34.25 at Ontario’s Beer Stores, which – along with Liquor Control Board stores – are the only retail sources of beer in Ontario.
